Technology Education Program Solution to Design Brief TSA Chapter
[ History ] [ Fundraisers ] [ Competitions ]
High Technology High School’s Technology Student Association chapter is probably one of the largest and most active of all the TSA chapters in New Jersey. Since students themselves choose to attend this technology-focused school, many already have a blossoming passion and enthusiasm for technology. High Tech’s TSA chapter currently has approximately 60 members, both male and female, which makes up about 1/5 of the total school population. This year, the TSA officers are President Ryan Curry, Vice-President Alex Rospos, Secretary Michael Soltys, Treasurer Eric Gallimore, Sergeant at Arms Bill Clerico, and Recorder Jesse Goodall.

Technology teacher Mr. Jim Gleason started the chapter in 1991, High Tech’s first year. In 1996, Mr. Chris Widmer took over as the advisor. Because he was an active TSA member during college, Mr. Widmer knew TSA very well, sometimes even better than the officials. As time passed, more and more students became involved. However, at the end of the 1999-2000 school year, Mr. Widmer was promoted to the Head of Technology in the Monmouth County Vocational School District Board of Education.

For the next year, Mr. Widmer worked with Mrs. Stacy Hallman, then in her first year teaching, as co-advisors for this TSA chapter. After that year, Mr. Widmer left and Mrs. Hallman was left as the sole advisor of the club. When she first took control, the TSA chapter had a -$500 balance. Through her efforts to expand the chapter’s fundraisers, Mrs. Hallman guided the chapter to its current balance of $2,000 all the while continuing to attract new members.
